The Hatchery is a new 67,000 sq ft facility at the corner of Lake and Kedzie. Accion, the area's largest microlender, and ICNC, which runs one of the largest business incubators in the country, are the joint venture partners and building owners. The Hatchery is a food and beverage business incubator that enables local entrepreneurs to build and grow successful businesses, in turn creating economic growth and new job opportunities in their communities. The building offers 54 leasable private kitchens, a shared kitchen, food storage, loading docks, meeting and office spaces, and a wide array of support services. The Hatchery also partners with the Garfield Park Community Council to host the seasonal Garfield Park Neighborhood Market; that and other community events make use of the facility’s generous outdoor plaza and indoor event spaces. The Hatchery Chicago is the nonprofit responsible for leasing the kitchens and, along with the other partners, offers programming, mentoring, networking, classes and support to entrepreneurs.
