Otherworld Theatre extends a rich history of theater in this location. These two handsome commercial buildings are joined by an arched opening that was put through to expand the space available for the first tenant, a florist serving nearby cemeteries. After a succession of other uses, in 1978, Live Bait Theater took over the space and quickly became a stalwart of the Chicago neighborhood theater scene, specializing in popular solo artist, full length shows, and operating there until 2008. In 2013, the space transitioned to Public House Theatre, and in 2018 was taken over by Otherworld Theatre, the only venue in the world specializing in sci-fi and fantasy theater.
