In 2019, having outgrown its previous offices in the West Loop, landscape architecture firm Omni Ecosystems purchased a 2.5-acre block in the Bronzeville community to house its new headquarters. The facility—which opened in summer 2020—incorporates a 1920s-era Bowman Dairy Company bottling factory which Omni updated to include an expansive ADA-accessible system of green roofs and outdoor event spaces. The formerly industrial complex now features open offices and meeting areas, an indoor plant library and conservatory, a material library and warehouse. The master plan for the 65,000-square-foot site includes converting an acre of open land into a publicly accessible nature preserve and planting over 150 new trees.
The entire building will be open for guided tours, which include the warehouse and plant library on the first floor, work space and meeting rooms on the second floor and the penthouse and green roof on the third floor. Additionally, the 2021 Architecture Biennial Site "Seed A Lot Sidewalk Share" will be open for self-guided tours.
