Description

This purpose-built school by CannonDesign opened in 2014 as a major new anchor in the redevelopment of 63rd Street in Woodlawn. The three-story, 75,000-square-foot LEED Silver-certified facility also houses the Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School, which is not open to OHC visitors this year. The two schools share a gymnasium, exercise room, and flex spaces. The sole mission of Hyde Park Day School is to equip bright students with learning disabilities in grades 1-8 with the skills to succeed in traditional classrooms. Built around a bright and colorful piazza and grand staircase, the school even comes with its own custom-designed furniture created to focus attention and create an effective learning environment.
