Description

Growing Home provides training for people with barriers to employment at Chicago's first and only USDA-certified organic high-production urban farm. Wood Street Farm opened in 2006 and has expanded to 1.5 acres capable of producing more than 30,000 pounds of organic produce annually. Growing Home provides 25 hours per week of paid work experience, job-readiness training and career services to individuals who need a supportive environment to develop their professional strengths. This unique endeavor brings jobs, professional skills, career resources and fresh produce to Chicago's Englewood neighborhood.

Visitor Experience

Guided tours will be available and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about urban farming and employment access equity in Englewood. Learn about the innerworkings of our urban farm, see our classroom space and hear about our mission - and possibly even taste a few organically grown items!

Also, Growing Home is hosting our 2nd Annual Fall Harvest Fest in collaboration on Saturday from 10am - 3pm at our farm campus.

This community centric event will celebrate the incredible culture of our Greater Englewood neighborhood with family friendly activities, food trucks, music from a local DJ, and various local artisan and food vendors. We’ll also be offering freshly harvested produce for sale at affordable prices alongside the free tours of our USDA-certified organic farms.
