Great Lakes Yard
2651 W. Lake St.
This isn’t your typical lumber yard. Located under the CTA Green Line tracks in the Garfield Park neighborhood, Great Lakes Yard is a specialized business and warehouse that sustainably salvages high-quality lumber and architectural artifacts through deconstruction and demolition across the Great Lakes Region. These materials are resold to local builders, artisans, and homeowners, along with a range of goods and installations built by Great Lakes. The raw harvested material tells rich stories of the area’s centuries-old timber industry, and the built history of Chicago homes and infrastructure.
