Dorchester Art+Housing Collaborative is a unique community of mixed-income housing for artists, arts professionals and those with a creative impulse, designed to foster community collaboration around the arts. Once a 32-townhome Chicago Housing Authority project, the buildings were abandoned for a number of years until Theaster Gates and REBUILD FOUNDATION, in partnership with Brinshore Development, initiated an innovative redevelopment. Designed by Landon Bone Baker Architects, the Collaborative features an Art Center used for performances and community events.
