Carr Chapel (also known as the “God Box") is Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's only religious project. It's also his only masonry building on the IIT campus. The small non-denominational chapel draws international interest because of its historic importance and remarkable architectural simplicity. Though the building lies outside the boundaries of the IIT Campus National Register Historic District, its restoration began in 2008 and was completed in 2013.
