While Tree House Humane Society has been helping cats find loving families for decades, in 2017 they moved into a new, specially designed home. This structure is home to eleven cat colonies, nine of which have access to outdoor enclosures. The whole building is designed to be eco-friendly, with energy-efficient floor heating and extensive skylighting. Tree House is also home to Chicago’s first in-shelter cat cafe, where patrons can visit adoptable cats with feline leukemia while enjoying a drink. In the Tree House parking lot, a working outdoor feral cat colony will be available for viewing. The on-site cat clinic is already functional, and a new public clinic will be opened in 2021.
Admire the eco-friendly design of this feline-centric humane society. Visit with adoptable cats in the Cat Cafe (RSVP at treehouseanimals.org/cafe) or in one of several cat colonies that may be open, depending on visitor traffic.
