While it now houses a multitude of performance spaces for independent theatre, this building has worn many hats since it was built by Masons in the 1890s: a Woolworth's department store, offices for Hollywood Video, and a variety of other businesses have come and gone. Since 2010, The Den Theater has been home to several independent theatre companies, making it a vital node in Chicago's theatre scene. Complementing the varied performance spaces are comfortable but eclectic lounges and a welcoming storefront bar and cafe.
