Description

Riders of CTA's Green Line are familiar with the steel-and-concrete tube above Rem Koolhaas’s McCormick Tribune Campus Center at IIT. Trains pass through this tube as they make their way north or south. As students walk along the building's diagonal pathways through irregularly-shaped and brightly-colored spaces, trains pass overhead undetected. Koolhaas's unconventional and playful design for the campus center contrasts with the famed Miesian minimalism of the rest of the campus.
