John Sutcliffe, 1905

This Gothic Revival church is one of Oak Park's most outstanding treasures. The 11,000-square-foot brick and limestone nave opened in 1905, but work continued through 1967. The congregation was strict in its requirement that construction follow the 1898 blueprints, resulting in the near-perfect execution of the architect's vision. It’s a rare example of a structure that remained untouched by new architectural ideas in the years since its conception.

Visitor Experience

View the beautiful sanctuary of the church used in the filming of Home Alone, and enjoy periodic organ performances on pipes dating from about 1922.
