After more than 30 years in the Ravenswood neighborhood, Architectural Artifacts Inc. reopened in summer 2022 in the former Immaculate Conception St. Joseph School building on the Near North Side. The reused structure is fitting given the company’s legacy as the hub of the local architectural salvage scene, but the new venture is so much more than a sprawling antiques warehouse. A partnership with hoteliers Debra and Robert Baum of Bedderman Lodging brings new excitement to the store’s longtime strengths, offering 35,000 square feet of event spaces, an all-day café and wine bar and an updated kaleidoscopic assortment of the treasures that owner Stuart Granne has been showcasing for decades.

Visitor Experience

All spaces, including the café, classrooms, the (ball)room, speakeasy, two outdoor patios and design gallery will be open for self-guided tours. The design gallery will also feature a special QR code scan, where guests can hear AAI Founder Stuart Grannen discuss the collection.
