Description

OPEN Center for the Arts provides a space where all artists can come together to share, showcase, refine and develop their talents, as well as support entrepreneurship opportunities in the arts. Located just south of Frederick and Anna Murray Douglass Park in Little Village, the original center opened in 2004 in a building owned by sculptor and entrepreneur Omar Magaña. When a fire consumed that building four years later, the community of artists, educators and community leaders rebuilt and reinvigorated the space, which today hosts art exhibits, workshops, family movie nights and other local events.

Visitor Experience

Visitors may take a self-guided tour of the Main gallery and patio.

OPEN Center for the Arts will be presenting the Cariño Film Festival over the weekend in the "Stage" level of the gallery. The festival seeks to share stories from South Lawndale and the Chicago area with the world while working to radically change the landscape for those who create and experience the power of film. Selected films will be on display Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
