Description

Founded in 1904 as a German/Luxembourger parish, St. Gregory the Great Church is a Norman Gothic gem from the 1920s. Inside you will find a lavishly decorated ceiling, an imposing sanctuary, and hidden chapels that include a permanent Nativity scene. The paintings in the shrines of Mary and St. Joseph, by the Spanish artist Julio de Diego, are noted for their exquisite color and symmetry and have previously been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago. Hand-crafted in Germany, the pulpit, shrines, and Stations of the Cross are complemented by English jewel glass windows.

Visitor Experience

See oil paintings, carvings and many other beautiful details throughout the large sanctuary, the chapels and the shrines. The windows create a light show at all times of the day.
