George Maher, 1912

Legend has it that Frank Lloyd Wright declined the commission for the Taylor residence due to creative differences with the clients. The sumptuous, rectilinear Prairie-Style estate is a textbook George Maher design on an 11.5-acre site. It was the family's home until 1963 when they sold it to Unity Church. The sprawling horizontal home includes large windows, a beautiful stair-wrapped foyer and decorative motifs throughout. Several additions have been made by Unity Church over the years including a sanctuary and sunlit atrium. The building serves as a center for spiritual living which includes Sunday services, educational programs for adults and youth, and prayer and healing services.
