Pullman Tech Workshop

Pullman Tech Workshop is housed in a century-old building that originally served as the Schlitz Brewery stable for horses that pulled beer wagons. Schlitz constructed its largest facility across the tracks from the Pullman company town to provide beer to 10,000 workers who were compelled to live in a dry community. This building is one of only two surviving 'Schlitz Row' commercial structures. It was designed by the noted firm of Frommann & Jebsen, credited with over 25 Schlitz buildings and the Humboldt Park Receptory & Stable Building.

Pullman Tech Workshop’s mission is to invest in the community by educating and inspiring the next generation of historic trades workers through apprenticeship training, workshops and transitional employment. The organization aims to strengthen, celebrate and advance equitable community resources and opportunities. The Workshop’s apprentices play a direct part in rebuilding Pullman and the surrounding underserved communities of Chicago’s South Side. 

Students from Pullman Tech Workshop will be demonstrating and working on multiple wood working projects from bench building to historic milling.

Building tours will be offered to visitors, including the workshop, horse elevator, and side garden.
